An opportunity for a Software Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space, Getafe (Madrid). The selected candidate will join the Software Mission Systems Team, specifically integrated into a Stream-Aligned product team.
The engineer will contribute to RandD and core product initiatives focused on enhancing our mission system capabilities through next-generation technologies. The role involves collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver continuous value in high-performance distributed environments, building state-of-the-art software solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The main tasks of the jobholder will be:
- Design, write, and maintain clean, efficient, and modern C++ code running on Linux platforms.
- Implement data-centric communication interfaces and network architectures using DDS middleware technologies.
- Develop, optimize, and maintain responsive graphical user interfaces (GUIs) leveraging the Qt framework.
- Own the end-to-end delivery of customer-facing features using Trunk Based Development and continuous value stream models.
- Ensure high software quality by implementing Test Driven Development (TDD), including unit, integration, and regression tests.
- Design and implement technical documentation, including software architectures, API contracts, and DDS data models.

- Education: Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent technical experience.
- Experience: At least 5 years in software development, specifically in high-performance applications.
- Soft skills: Analytical and problem-solving skills, team spirit, and the ability to work in complex, international, and multicultural environments.
- Languages: Advanced level in English and Spanish (both written and spoken).
- Technical knowledge: Modern C++ (STL, object-oriented design), Linux environments, CMake, and Git.
- Valuable / Nice to have: Experience with Qt framework (Quick, QML, or Widgets), DDS (Data Distribution Service), and testing frameworks such as GoogleTest or Catch2 will be valued.
